Inventing with Nature: Biomimicry

In this exciting unit, young scientists and engineers will explore how the natural world inspires human innovation! Through hands-on experiments, creative challenges, and playful design, students will discover how plants and animals solve everyday problems, from waterproof feathers to sticky gecko feet and strong spider silk. Each week, children will investigate a different “nature-made invention” and then apply what they learn to design their own creations using the engineering design process. This unit blends science, art, and engineering to spark curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving, helping students see that some of the best ideas come straight from nature itself!
